KAST Biolab

KAST Biolab will perform bacteriocidal and anti – viral evaluation tests on photocatalysts and other materials.

Our KAST participated in the NEDO project. We have established a method for examining the bacteriocidal and anti – viral activities of photocatalytic reactions, and have tested various new photocatalytic compounds developed by the NEDO project for their bacteriocidal and anti – viral activities using this method. Moreover, many visible wavelength lamps were tested for their utility in photocatalysis; these lamps were developed by companies participating in projects in conjunction with airports and hospitals. We have contributed actively to this project.
Based on our findings, KAST Biolab will perform bacteriocidal and anti – viral evaluation tests on photocatalysts and other materials. The results of this co-operative research will be developed further. The principles behind our technology for handling microorganisms and the photocatalytic bacteriocidal effect would be disseminated and thus will widely benefit society.

Examination of the microbicidal (anti – bacterial and anti – viral) effects of the photocatalytic materials

The bacteria and virus used will be E. coli, Bacteriophage, Influenza virus, etc.
